Art in Public Places

This program includes permanently and temporarily installed artworks in and around publicly-accessible buildings, parks, and other visible, highly-trafficked locations in Clackamas County.

The Arts Alliance works with appropriate County departments and staff to develop project goals and budgets.  For each project, the Alliance coordinates a rigorous art selection process, always involving a volunteer ‘stakeholder’ committee.  AIPP committees frequently include artists, interested citizens, business and community leaders, arts advocates and County department representatives.

Concepts and proposals are always solicited through an open public call for professional public artists, using all existing networks.  Depending on the specific project need, the call may be local or statewide, or it may extend to regional and national networks.

Long-range planning provides guidance for all AIPP projects; public art master plans and the County’s Public Art Policies and Guidelines are all available for review.

AIPP staff are continually recruiting for art project committees.  Anyone living or working in Clackamas County who is interested in serving is invited to contact our Public Art Manager for more information.
