Oregon City, Ore. –During its annual convention last week, The National Association of Counties (NaCo) presented the Clackamas County Arts Alliance with its 2008 Achievement Award in Arts & Historic Preservation, for the Alliance’s Art in Public Spaces program, designated “Best of Category.”
For the past seven years this program has exhibited artwork in various public offices and libraries. More than 150 Clackamas County artists participated, including many who never publicly exhibited before. The program has two goals: creating a welcoming and pleasant environment for citizens as they conduct business and, provide opportunity for local artists to exhibit their work.
The nomination was submitted by the County's Department of Public and Government Affairs, in an essay titled "Arts Alliance - Public Spaces For Not-So-Public Faces." Commissioner Martha Schrader represented the County at the convention and accepted the award on behalf of Arts Alliance staff and board.
